Plant for Pollinators
Attracting pollinators to your garden is essential, especially as populations continue to decline. We rely on them for our sustenance, for their beauty and presence. They are the garden keepers. Choosing a variety of plants that includes native species helps them thrive.
Bees
Bees are one of the most important and prolific pollinators. There over 4,000 bee species native to North America and over 20,000 worldwide. Their constant movement and buzz brings the garden to life.
Butterflies

Hummingbirds
Hummingbirds are one of the most celebrated garden visitors, and you will understand why when one swoops down and hovers near you as you work. The most common species in Maine are the Ruby Throated Hummingbird, Rufous and Calliope.
